The flashy legendary greatsword Exordium has a crystalline, holographic aesthetic, and changes shape and action depending on the class of the character who wields it. This weapon features an aura of golden swirls with crystal fragments, and leaves behind blue and orange swirling footfalls.
To get Exordium, you must craft the following items in the following order:
- Malumres
- Visiospei
- Exitare
This process requires Weaponsmith 500.
Notably, crafting Exordium requires:
- 290 Shard of Exitaire (this requires 26,100 Elder Wood Log and 23,200 Mithril Ore)
- 10 Elonian Leather Square
- 6 Deldrimor Steel Ingot
- 250 Mystic Coin
- 77 Mystic Clover
A kind Redditor has put together a spreadsheet for tracking your Exordium crafting process.
They have also identified a way to save yourself 200 gold when crafting Exordium. In short:
- Craft 400 Shard of the Dark Arts.
- Use them in the Mystic Forge to create 4 Enormous Chest of Legendary Shards.
- Select Shard of Exitaire from these chests. Each chest provides 75 shards.
You can also buy a small number of Shards of Exitaire with laurels. Every day you can buy one Chest of Legendary Shards from a laurel merchant for 10 laurels. Each chest provides 3 legendary shards.

Gift of Desert Mastery or Maguuma Mastery?
To complete the final step of crafting Exordium, you need either a Gift of Desert Mastery or a Gift of Maguuma Mastery.
Many players wonder which one they should choose. The short version is, Gift of Maguuma Mastery. If you have already map-completed the Maguuma maps (Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangled Depths, and Dragon Stand) and used those Gifts for something else, you will need to do map completion on another character. Still worth it!
You need four things for each gift:
Item 1: Both gifts require you to map-complete four maps in the area.
Item 2: for Desert Mastery, you have to unlock every mastery for four mounts (Raptor, Skimmer, Springer, and Jackal). For Maguuma Mastery, you just have to buy a widget from 4 different vendors with HoT map currency. You’ll probably earn enough map currency for this by doing the map completion.
Item 3: A Bloodstone Shard.
Item 4: Here’s where the trouble starts. Desert Mastery requires 250 Funerary Incense. Maguuma Mastery requires 250 Crystalline Ingots.
Both items are pricey – each requires an Amalgamated Gemstone, among other items. ($$!)
However, Funerary Incense is time-gated AND heart-gated. You can only buy one per day from each of 8 Renowned Heart vendors. These are repeatable hearts, so you have to do the heart each day to unlock the vendor.
Option #2 is to buy them from the vendor at the Tomb of Primeval Kings. This vendor will sell you 5 per day for a Crystalline Ingot each. You can also buy unlimited Funerary Incense from this vendor, but at a very steep price: either 100 Trade Contracts each, or 3 Elegy Mosaics each.
