Raptor Mount Guide

Concept art of the Guild Wars 2 raptor mount

The GW2 Raptor (dinosaur) mount has a long horizontal jump. The large scales along its back and tail can be recolored with dyes in the Equipment tab of the Hero Panel.

Raptor Speed

Raptors provide a big speed boost, and when the special jump is taken into account, the Raptor is the fastest of the available mounts. This is particularly handy for slow classes without speed boosts, like Guardian/Dragonhunter/Firebrand, and Warrior/Berserker/Spellbreaker.

Where Do You Get a Raptor Mount?

The Raptor mount is the first mount players receive. You get the Raptor when you arrive in the Crystal Desert during the Path of Fire story mission Sparking the Flame.

Raptor Masteries

It costs a total of 10 Path of Fire Mastery points to completely level up the Raptor mount.

  • Level 1: Ravenous Strike Increased Tail Spin damage. Cost: 1 Path of Fire Mastery point.
  • Level 2: Round Up Tail Spin attack pulls in foes. Cost: 2 Path of Fire Mastery points.
  • Level 3: Canyon Jumping Increase the Raptor’s leap distance. Cost: 3 Path of Fire Mastery points.
  • Level 4: Ravenous Discipline Attack damage increase for all mounts. Cost: 4 Path of Fire Mastery points.

You must level up Raptor at least through level 3 to unlock Canyon Jumping before you can get the second mount (the Springer).

Note: Mounts are part of the Path of Fire expansion pack. You must have Path of Fire in order to get mounts.
