Defeat the Champion Aberrant Murellow

Guild Wars 2 Champion Aberrant Murellow

For many players, Champion Aberrant Murellow is one of the trickiest champs to kill for the GW2 Hunting Champions achievement. This is due to its out-of-the-way location, the way it spawns semi-randomly, and the fact that it seems to be slightly glitched.

Read on to learn more about how to find and kill the Champion Aberrant Murellow.

Hunting Champions Achievement

You can find this achievement in your Hero Panel. Go to Achievements > Whisper in the Dark > Hunting Champions. The achievement lists all the champions you need to kill, and indicates which ones you have already done.

Find the Champion Aberrant Murellow

The Champion Aberrant Murellow spawns at the Aberrant Den POI in Ravenfrost Caverns, southwest of Jora’s Keep in Bjora Marches. This den is a chamber which is protected by a force field. Interact with a raven marker to unlock the field.

Fight the Champion Aberrant Murellow

Many other players need this champ, or are willing to come help you fight him. When you see that the champ is active, say something in map chat.

This champ has an ability which targets a specific player. That player receives all of the champ’s attacks for as long as the player is targeted. When you get targeted, make things easier for the other players fighting the Aberrant Murellow by pulling him away from the other players.

Don’t try to attack the champ murellow when you are targeted. Focus on healing yourself and avoiding his attacks.

Champion Aberrant Murellow Schedule

This champ is not on a schedule. However, anecdotal evidence indicates that it shows up approximately every half an hour. Your best strategy, if you need this champ, is to wait in the Aberrant Den until it starts. This also gives you the maximum amount of time to fight it.

Champion Aberrant Murellow Timer Glitch

The timer for this champ does not seem to be working correctly. Although the official wiki lists the event as having a 10-minute timer, the day I waited for it, it spawned with its timer set to 3 seconds, 1:30, 1:50, and then finally 7:30.

Since you need at least 5 minutes to fight the champ, this is frustrating to say the least. Hopefully it will be patched soon.
